We have received a number of inquires from Billmonk users about issues that they have experienced with the service over the past few days. We have been working to resolve these and the service is now back up and running.
I would like to see a feature of searching the bills by name or the amount. Because its really hard to track them down sometimes if you did not put the date on the bill to be the same as on the bill(which happens with me quite often)
For the past four days, I am getting this error msg whenever I try to report a bill.
“Internal Error: We were unable to save this transaction. Please contact us.”
I am unable to report the bug even, as it results in another bug.

Also while reporting the error on Contact us section I am getting the error again. Do you have a email id for customer support

1º When I try to save a bill, billmonk keeps saying “Internal error! We were unable to save this transaction. Please contact us”.
2º When I try to contact billmonk it says something about a bug, bla bla bla…
I’ve removed my cookies and it didn’t help.
I’m still getting the same “Internal error! We were unable to save this transaction. Please contact us.” message when trying to make changes in my account. I also get the “Oops! You have found a bug!” message when I try to contact you about the error.
Same here. I must confess, this is extremely frustrating. The service’s basic core functionality’s not working at all and there doesn’t seem to be any feedback. Even all means of contact and reporting are failing.
Can you please tell me why you dont respond to my previous requests? I am UNABLE TO SAVE BILLS for the past 10 days…

lol. I wouldn’t bother leaving suggestions about improvements…since they can’t even seem to keep the site running. I think we need to face it that billmonk is dead. Time to find an alternative. Anyone have a suggestion?
BillMonk seems to be working again for me. Their complete lack of feedback on the whole matter, however, is not very reassuring and does not speak highly of the service or Obopay, the company behind it.
BillMonk’s working alright for me now, but when it was failing, I tried deleting cookies and even using different browsers and nothing worked, so there was to it than cache or cookies issues.
But what’s more disconcerting about the all situation is that there’s no official feedback from BillMonk or Obopay. Besides all the comments in this post, me and other users have tried to contact BillMonk and Obopay through several means with no response whatsoever!
noooo worky! and now i can’t log in after clearing my cache and cookies, it states ‘wrong password’. i think we all need to chip in and buy billmonk from the company that’s letting it die a slow, sad and neglectful death — who’s with me?
Iniitially i thought it’d be cool to settle accounts here but its so buggy and it is testing my patience now. I havent been able to log in over a week now and I have so much money to take from my friends. Please get it up and running asap .

Billmonk is broken, I cannot access the site at all. It no longer even displays the bug screen. I need to at least pull my data off before it goes away completely! Please put it back up for a few days saying it will be gone permanently after that. This is really terrible service.
Guys, how about making Billmonk open source? From the looks of it there appears to be a lack of funding that’s driving the site down. Making it open-source would hopefully drive more enthusiast programmers toward what’s actually a great product in need of some love.
Hi Guys, i have a lot of transactions on billmonk and it will be really a massive loss for me to lose all the information. I am not able to access the website today and just want to know when will it be back ? I will really appreciate if you guys can at-least let the people retrieve the past transactions before taking it down.( if it is going down really )
and ofcourse its down again….. Well can you guys post your issues online if possible, and gazillion techie users who use ur awesome service may be able to bring some experience with them….to solve those issues !!!
I think Billmonk has scaled so much in the past 6 years that it is now facing scalability issues. The load times are sometimes very slow, and a bit annoying. Also, sometimes when the page crashed mid-way through a long itemized bill, you feel pain.🙂
That said – fantastic job in keeping the website up and running. Very few of us realize that keeping such a service up and running for free is a lot of work. I think Billmonk needs to do something radical – ask for donations the way Wikipedia did, or start advertising to keep the service smooth. Or maybe even something as whacky as allowing people to download a desktop version of the app. Something – anything.
I need access to bill monk. Bill monk was telling me that my password was incorrect and it will not allow me to log in via facebook. I asked bill monk to send me a new temporary password but I have not received it in my mailbox yet. I have a great deal of data that I stored with my roommates regarding various bills and purchases. Has anyone actually heard from costumer service?
Just to re-iterate what’s been said above:
1) The web-site just doesn’t load.
2) Email triggers are gone, these are absolutely handy features.
3) We understand that you guys are facing issues with the huge load of traffic coming in. I think every grad student uses billmonk. That being said, it would be great if you guys could give us a sit-rep on what is going on, and what your plans are.
http://tabsplit.net/ seems to have all the features I need. It allows for splitting itemized dinner bills easily, which is something I relied on Billmonk to do. Still haven’t found something better than Billmonk when it was at it’s best. I would donate to keep it alive.
Password is not getting reset for a month now ! I get a msg saying email has been sent, but i am not getting any email !!! Tried it so many times now ! Im tired of this… Me and my friends are switchin ! Now I have lost all the data in there !!! GRT !! THANKS A LOT BILLMONK ! This rate ppl are going to leave in huge numbers !

yes, things are not working. we are getting the bug message. does anyone from billmonk check this blog or the little messages you send when there is an error? this problem was happening several months ago…. took forever to get resolved.
I moved to splitwise. At least they are developing something and it works just fine. I loved billmonk but I don’t want to waste hours and hours to report a bill. And at the end of it, it doesn’t even work. Guess it is time for billmonk to R.I.P.

Actually… not to be a downer or anything, but I was fortunate enough to see Adams give a speech and Q/A years ago (1995? 96?).
